Georgia Perioperative Consultants
is a single specialty group which provides anesthesia services at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA, Fayette Community Hospital and several free standing outpatient facilities. Our group presently consists of MD anesthesiologists, P.A./C.R.N.A . anesthetists, and nurses.
The physicians represent a broad range of specialty and subspecialty interests which include cardiovascular anesthesia, regional anesthesia, intensive care, pain management, neuroanesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, and obstetrical anesthesia. All of the physicians are board certified in anesthesiology with some receiving additional board certification in such specialties as pain management, intensive care, internal medicine and pediatrics.
Our physicians come from many different institutions and geographical areas. Institutions represented include The University of Pennsylvania, Harvard affiliated hospitals,Johns Hopkins Medical Center, University of California-San Diego, UCLA, University of Arizona , University of Miami, Duke University, University of Florida, Ohio State University, University of Alabama-Birmingham, Texas Heart Institute, Medical College of Virginia, Baylor Affiliated Hospitals, Tulane Hospitals, McGill University in Montreal, University of Toronto, and Emory. Many of our physicians were former attending staff at these institutions.
Our anesthetists come from many different programs with most coming from the highly regarded Emory Master's of Medical Science program. Many have specialized skills with experience in subspecialty areas such as cardiovascular anesthesia and intensive care.
Our group provides a wide variety of services in many different areas which include:
- Inpatient and Outpatient Anesthesia for General Surgery, Plastic Surgery,Gynecological Surgery, and Orthopedics
- Anesthesia for Renal Transplantation
- Anesthesia for Neurological Surgery
- Anesthesia for Pulmonary Surgery
- Anesthesia for Vascular Surgery
- Anesthesia for Liver Transplantation
- Cardiovascular Anesthesia
- Epidural Analgesia for Labor
- Anesthesia for Cesearean Section /Tubal Ligation
- Pediatric Anesthesia including MRI studies and radiation therapy
- Anesthesia for Complex Radiological Procedures including interventional procedures such as the TIPS procedure for transhepatic shunting in cirrhosis
- Acute Pain Services.
We also provide consultation and technical assistance in the emergency room, intensive care unit and to the gastrointestinal endoscopy suite.
We presently provide 24 hour a day, 365 day a year coverage with an anesthesiologist (MD.) in house at all times. Our preoperative clinic is open Monday through Friday and is staffed by knowledgeable personnel who can provide assistance prior to a surgical visit. An anesthesiologist personally reviews all patient records available prior to surgery to ensure that all medical conditions which could affect the anesthetic or surgical care are addressed prior to the day of surgery.
