Due to the hard work of one of our anesthesiologists Dr. Fred Schwartz, Piedmont Hospital has a 10-channel music system, which is available to our patients in the operating rooms, obstetric suites and soon in the preoperative areas. This music system allows you to select from a vast array of styles.

Music has been shown in many clinical studies to reduce the anxiety associated with a visit to the hospital and operating room. Dr. Schwartz is a world recognized expert in the effects of musical content on medical conditions. He has been a frequent lecturer in the US, Europe and Australia on the subject of music and medicine. He has also been profiled in the past by CNN for his work.
